Pre-painted Steel Roofing Sheet

Corrugated Color Roofing Sheet (PPGI / PPGL)

Colour-coated corrugated and trapezoidal roofing sheet for houses, warehouses, factories, farm buildings and wall cladding. Rolled from pre-painted galvanized (PPGI) or Galvalume (PPGL) coil and cut to your lengths.

Choosing the base metal: PPGI or PPGL

The paint gives the colour, but the metallic coating underneath decides how long the roof lasts:

  • PPGI (galvanized base, Z40–Z275 g/m²): economical, and fine for inland and dry climates.
  • PPGL (Galvalume / aluzinc base, AZ30–AZ150 g/m²): 55% aluminium and 45% zinc. In most climates it lasts 2–4 times longer than the same weight of zinc coating, so we recommend it for coastal, humid and tropical sites in West Africa, East Africa and Southeast Asia.

A very light coating (Z40, AZ30) makes a cheap sheet, but it rusts at cut edges and screw holes within a few years in humid climates. Tell us the location of the project and we will suggest a sensible coating.

Paint systems

A standard top coat is 15–25 µm over primer, and the back coat is 5–10 µm. Colours follow the RAL chart; popular choices are RAL 5015 sky blue, 3009 oxide red, 6005 moss green, 9002 grey-white and 1015 ivory. Wood-grain, matte and wrinkle finishes are also available.

Profiles and thickness

  • Corrugated (wave): 750–900 mm effective cover width, classic for houses and farm buildings.
  • Trapezoidal (IBR / box profile): 686–1,000 mm cover, stronger, and suited to wider purlin spacing on warehouses.
  • Tile-effect (step tile): the look of clay tiles on residential roofs.
  • Thickness: 0.12–0.8 mm. For roofs that people will walk on during installation, we recommend 0.35 mm or thicker. Thinner gauges are used where price is the priority.

Sheets are cut to the exact length of your rafters (up to about 11.8 m for a 40ft container), so there are no overlaps and no waste on site. Ridge caps, flashings, gutters and self-drilling screws with EPDM washers can be supplied in matching colours.

Packing

Sheets are stacked on wooden or steel pallets with a protective film on the top coat, wrapped in waterproof paper and strapped. Each bundle is marked with profile, colour, thickness and length for easy checking on arrival.

Frequently asked questions

What thickness of roofing sheet should I buy?

For most houses and warehouses, 0.3–0.5 mm is a good balance between price and strength. Very thin sheets (0.12–0.2 mm) are cheaper but dent easily and are hard to walk on.

Is Galvalume roofing better than galvanized?

In most climates, yes. Galvalume (aluzinc) resists corrosion much better than the same weight of zinc, especially in hot, humid and coastal areas. The price difference is small compared with the extra roof life.

How many square metres of roofing sheet are in one ton?

It depends on thickness. At 0.4 mm, one ton of coil gives about 310 square metres of flat sheet, which is roughly 270–290 square metres of roof cover after corrugation.

Can you match a colour sample?

Yes. Send us a RAL code or a physical sample and we will match it. Custom colours may need a minimum order per colour.
